Abbey Headland Long Stay on Abbey Lane beside Whitby Abbey. The Gothic ruins sit in the windshield from the north-facing tarmac stalls across a low dry-stone wall; Whitby drops west toward the harbour and a rim of North Sea. Sedan pavement, pay-and-display. Coaches pack the bays until evening. After the last machine the abbey is a long sit from the stall.
