Small lava-stone pad at Rifugio Piano dei Grilli on the west flank of Etna. The whole cone sits in the windshield over broom and oak. The last four kilometres are a narrow lava-cobble lane — Tesla-fine if you take it slow; tight for a long van. Empty compared with the south tourist lots. After the last walker the west flank is yours from the stall.
