Loop lot at the end of ER 214 on the dry east peninsula, the PR8 trailhead for Ponta de São Lourenço. Cars sit on the volcanic grass apron; Ilhéu da Cevada and the knife of the cape are already in the windshield. Sedan pavement, free, bus 113 terminates on the same pad. Day hikers and island coaches fill the loop until the last return. After the last walker the red earth and the Atlantic on three sides are yours from the stall. Trail ticket is a walk, not the pad.
