Lakeside gravel pull-off on the Wasdale road at Countess Beck, England's deepest lake. The Screes drop six hundred metres into the water in the windshield from the two-car lip; Yewbarrow and Great Gable close the head of the valley. Single-track from Gosforth, sedan-easy when dry, no toilets, no charger. Day walkers until dusk. After they leave the lake is yours from the car.
