Paved col lot at Col de la Croix-Morand, 1 403 m, on the D996 between Lac Chambon and Mont-Dore. The Puy de la Tache wall sits in the windshield from the stalls; Sancy is the next ridge. Sedan asphalt, wind, a buron across the road when it is open, no charger on this pad. Day hikers and a line of vans until dusk. After the last car the whole Sancy plateau is yours from the seat.
